This sounds obvious, right? But I’m a big believer that what we sow is what we reap. In other words, if we are kind to others, others will be kind to us.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that if you’re kind to every person you meet, every person you meet will be kind to you. But if you’re in a happy mindset where kindness is pouring out of you, it’s pretty tough for somebody to be mad or horrid to you. And even if they are, be even kinder to them! They may just need to hear some encouragement, and if not it’s quite funny.
I would really encourage you to send someone a kind message whenever you can. I’ve started getting in the habit of just dropping people random texts like “I’m really proud of you” or “I’m glad to have you as my friend”. All the soppy stuff. But do you know what? I was having a real down couple of days a few weeks back and these messages started coming back to me. People checking on me or hoping I was okay. When lockdown began in March 2020 people dropped off food packages or phoned me to check on me. I’m not saying they wouldn’t have anyway but I’m sure this is helped by the fact that I try to spread kindness wherever I go.
So in the words of the late Caroline Flack; “in a world where you can be anything, be kind.”
